汽車電梯在GB7024-2008 《電梯、自動扶梯、自動人行道術語》里稱之為非商用汽車電梯(non—commercial vehicle lift)，定義為“其轎廂適于運載小型乘客汽車的電梯” ， 在特種設備目錄里屬于貨梯的一種。它在汽車4S店、維修車間，樓頂設停車場的大型商場、超市得到了越來越廣泛的應用。

    In the national standard GB 7024-2008 Terminology of Lifts, Escalators and Moving Walks, the car elevator is referred to as non-commercial vehicle lift, defined as "a lift whose car is suitable for carrying small passenger cars". It is classified as a type of cargo elevator in the Special Equipment Catalogue.

    This type of elevator has been increasingly widely used in automobile 4S stores, vehicle maintenance workshops, large shopping malls and supermarkets with rooftop parking lots.
